Yellow Green Bean

So I've been following a photography website for almost two years, but have not submitted any pictures for the "assignments" or "challenges." This week I did. The weekly challenge was "Yellow" so I composed a photo not of yellow sunflowers, or yellow jacket bees, or even a yellow Ford Mustang GT. Nothing ordinary like that. I opted for a more creative route. Maybe I will win my first time around. We'll all have to wait and see.

Barn Dance

Our church put on a Saturday night Barn Dance at an old refurbished barn in Eden Prairie. There was food, live music including a fiddle, square dancing (which I did not partake...Norah was eating or something), and a grassy knoll for the kids to throw their cowboy hats around in the wind. Jen dusted off her sisters old overalls to dress the part. I didn't know anybody still owned a pair of overalls. Who knew?

It almost felt like we were at Young Life camp again

I tried to make this photo look like one of those old fashion Wild West photos you overpay at the amusement park.

Exsted farmer's market

Okay, so we didn't get as many veggies as the title implies, but it was our biggest harvest to date. Everything is tasting so sweet and fresh, almost like we grew it in our own backyard. So there is a funny story about the broccoli. After we cut it from the plant, we brought the basket in and set it on the counter. In about 30 minutes it had gone completely limp. We didn't revive it in time to eat, so we are hoping the broccoli plant will produce another head for us this year.

Summer in the city

We've been frequenting the SLP community pool as often as possible this summer. I was able to join the gang for a day, it was so fun to see the two of them having so much fun together.

Summer and fudge pops on the face got well together too

How could he resist

Summer harvest

So we've built a raised bed garden, planted the seeds, watered it daily, and now it's time to eat!!! We got our first cucumber of the year and it was delicious. I don't know if the fruit of our labor made it taste sweeter, but it was a fresh, crisp cucumber. Love it!! To top it all off we saw an amazing sunset that evening.

4th of July

We celebrated our independence again this year at the Edina 4th of July parade. Shannon and the boys made some really creative and cute hats for the kids to wear. To learn how to make one yourself for next year or for a different occasion, check out mommyapolis for this and many other great ideas for mom's in the Twin Cities.

Eagerly waiting for the parade to start

I captured Caedon and Schaeffer hanging out on the curb shootin' the breeze

Okay so I've never seen festive sunglasses look so edible

Here they come...

I'm not sure why they got on the belly's, but it was a fun pic.

The real reason we are able to celebrate this day

Last year Norah was only 3 months old and slept through most of the parade. This year she waved her flag!!

We rarely get a chance to get 'dressed up' and get a picture of ourselves. This was before a date night.

Downtown Minneapolis

I always wanted to try to capture some light trails and had an idea to get the Minneapolis skyline in the background as well. I set up my tripod on the Penn Ave. ramp to 394. Come to find out, I was not the only one with this idea. About a dozen people joined me to take pictures of downtown. I thought wow, I really know how to choose a spot. But really they were there to watch the fourth of July fireworks after the Twins game at Target Field.
